The Peugeot 508 is a family car that is all set to release in April. The GT version of the car comes with 201bhp. It comes in a sedan version as well as a station wagon version, both of which have extended passenger compartments. Its automatic gearbox allows the driver to manually shift gears using peddles. The Peugeot RXH is a hybrid crossover that has a diesel-powered engine as well as a 26kW electric motor.
Another Sports car coming out in January next year is the ZL1 Camaro. Since it will be the 45th anniversary of the Camaro, the engine has been upgraded to a 6.2 L capacity, supercharged V8 engine that can give up to 580hp. The LSA motor is the same as the one in the Cadillac CTS V and makes it the fastest Camaro in production. It also comes equipped with features such as exclusive 20” aluminum wheels and a 2-stage exhaust.
Another car releasing in March 2012 is the Toyota Prius C. This subcompact car with a gasoline-electric engine has been made especially for city transport. It is smaller than the normal Prius and is targeted towards a younger market; those without families. Toyota expects the fuel efficiency of this car to reach 50mpg. It has a BOHC 4-cylinder, 1.5 liter engine and the hybrid system includes a new inverter, motor and battery.
The Volkswagen Golf R set to release in early 2012, it will have both 2-door and 4-door versions available. Powered by a 2litre FSI engine that can produce 267bhp, it is claimed that the car can go from 0-100kmph in 5.5 seconds. It uses a Haldex 4 motion all-wheel driving system. The Volkswagen Golf will also be fitted with rear LED Tail lights. A detuned version of the Golf R will also be brought out in Japan and Australia to suit the hotter climate. Extra features include new brake rotors as well as better stability control settings.
The Corvette C7 is expected to be released in late 2012. It has been in the planning since 2007. This sleek car has not changed its look for almost 13 years. It will come with a 5.5litre V8 engine and a revised combustion system. Power should reach a total of 440hp, and mileage is expected to be lower than the C6 due to the smaller engine design.
With better designs and improved fuel efficiency, the new cars of 2012 make for an exciting year ahead.
